RCC Institute of Information Technology, the premier technological knowledge hub of West Bengal (accredited by NAAC and 4 UG programs by NBA) organized two-days Smart Bengal Hackathon on 11 th and 12 th April 2023; where apart from engineering Institutes across the state, schools were also invited to showcase their novelty for solving common people’s problem. The program was inaugurated by honourable IT & Tourism Minister of State, Mr. Babul Supriyo, in august presence of Prof. Amlan Chakrabarti, Director, AKCSIT, C.U and Mr. Pranabesh Das (Ex-DTE, Govt of W.B). RCCIIT

26 teams from various schools have participated in this mega event, and 5 teams shared the top three positions. On the next day, 71 teams from various engineering institutes demonstrated their innovativeness, where the teams were selected from two rounds of peer-review out of 500+ idea submissions. After three rounds of evaluation, finally three teams were chosen for ranking, whereas other 7 teams are provided distinction certificates. RCCIIT

The jury panel was constituted by renowned industry experts and academicians. The thrust areas for prototype demonstration were blockchain, cyber security, digital education, artificial intelligence, healthcare, food technology, renewable energy, rural development; where problem statements are given by reputed industries e.g., Cognizant, NRI FinTech, IBM, HCL etc along with some leading start-ups. CDAC offered internship to one of the top 10 teams after verifying their executions, whereas a few more teams are under consideration for further developing and enriching their solution in near future. The State Dept. of IT has actively supported this event to foster the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship and in-turn help stimulate employability. RCCIIT

Minister encouraged the Institute to organize more such events in future for the benefit of the students and society and highly praised the association/partnership of the institute with leading Industries. Prizes were handed over to the future technocrats by Director of NASSCOM Mr. Nirupam Chaudhuri in the valedictory session. RCCIIT
