The event was spearheaded by Conclave President Dr Minal Pareek and Convenor Mr Arindam Basu, who worked closely with the university’s Journalism and Mass Communication Department to create an academic festival that explored the evolving dynamics of media and communication in today's world.

The opening of the conclave paid tribute to the late Mrs Mousumi RoyChowdhury, Co-Chairperson of SNU, with a heartfelt performance by students, setting a reflective and emotional tone for the event. Vice-Chancellor Dr Dhrubajyoti Chattopadhyay opened the proceedings with an inspiring speech, emphasising the need for intellectual discourse to navigate communication's changing dynamics.

Prominent figures from the media industry enriched the event with their expertise, including Dr Surbhi Dahiya, Dr Snehasis Sur, Mr Rana Yashwant, and Mr Abhijit Dasgupta, among others. The second day of the conclave saw an exciting plenary session on "Social Media and the Isolation Syndrome." Kajori Sen, a former reporter for NDTV and AajTak and currently an Assistant Professor at OP Jindal University, highlighted the challenges posed by social media, particularly how a culture of talking without listening dominates the digital space. She discussed the phenomenon of social media mobs and the importance of countering negative narratives with positive engagement.

Anala Padmanabha, a consultant at Mackenzie, provided a thought-provoking perspective on artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact on human behavior.

Throughout the day, more than 30 research papers were presented, delving into critical issues in media and communication. Sessions were chaired by prominent academicians, including Dr Rajesh Das from Burdwan University, Dr. Reshmi Naskar from St Xavier’s University, and Dr Monikinkini Basu from SNU.

The third edition of the National Media Conclave welcomed over 90 researchers, professors, and professionals from more than 40 universities, making it a truly national platform for dialogue on media innovation.
