Scottish Church College, Kolkata, and Salesian College, Siliguri organised their student exchange programme in the Department of English at the historic Scottish Church College premises in Kolkata. The programme took place from 11th May to 12th May.
The exchange programme provided an opportunity for students and faculty members from both institutions to come together to share ideas, experiences, and knowledge in the field of English literature. The two-day programme included a range of activities and events that aim to foster collaboration and promote academic excellence.
The inaugural session of the programme took place on 11th May 2023, with a college hymn by the students of the Department of English, Scottish Church College, followed by an opening prayer and welcome address by Dr. Deepti Myriam Joseph, Head, Department of English, Scottish Church College, and Dr. Madhumanjari Mondal, Principal, Scottish Church College, respectively.
Dr. Kaberi Chatterjee, Associate Professor, Department of English, Scottish Church College, and Coordinator of the Exchange Programme, delivered introductory remarks, followed by a speech by Dr. Hindol Chakraborty, Head, the Department of English, Salesian College. The programme also included a career counseling session, "The Way Ahead with English," by Sauraveswar Sen, Founder & Chief Mentor of Catalyst Learning Services, who has trained students at Scottish Church College for professional opportunities in the social development sector.
The academic session consisted of paper presentations by students and discussions on Partition Literature coordinated by Dr. Kaberi Chatterjee.
On the second day of the programme, participants visited Serampore College, a heritage institution.
"We are thrilled to launch this student exchange programme in collaboration with Salesian College," said Dr. Deepti Myriam Joseph. "The programme will offer an enriching experience to students and faculty members from both institutions, promoting cultural exchange, and fostering a sense of academic collaboration."
Dr. Supratim Das, Vice Principal, of Scottish Church College, expressed his excitement about the exchange programme. "We believe this programme will provide a unique opportunity for students to broaden their academic horizons and gain new perspectives on the field of English literature," he said.
