Subhas Bose Institute of Hotel Management observed International Housekeeping Week at the New Town Campus on 12th September 2022. Enthusiastic students of first, second and third year exhibited their unique hand crafted skills at the event. They were accompanied by their faculties members, Mr. Sayan Chakravarti and Mr. Sandipan Das.
To occasion was also graced by eminent industry stalwarts, known names in the world of hospitality. These included Mr. Shahid Akhtar, the Executive Housekeeper of Taj (Rajkutir); Fahad Kamal, the Executive Housekeeper of Fairfield by Marriott; Madhurima Guha, the Training Manager of Fairfield by Marriott; Rajesh Kumar Singh, the Executive Housekeeper Westin Hotel; Lenna Mondal, the Executive Housekeeper of ITC Royal Bengal and ITC Sonar; as well as Rohneet Ahluwalia, Cluster Training Manager ITC Royal and ITC Sonar. These industry stalwarts further enriched the evening by enlightening the assembled students on the importance of this significant, creative department.
The International Housekeeping Week is celebrated in September every year to make everyone aware about the importance of Housekeeping and hygiene. The opening Session of the marked week started in the institution with great pomp and show. The day long festivities consisted of a variety of fun filled activities and team building exercises like Poster Presentation, Rangoli Making, and a Housekeeping Quiz competition for the1st, 2nd and final year students of the institution.
Students from various departments of the college participated in multiple competitions. It was altogether a wonderful platform for students to show their creativity at its best. The enthusiasm and participation displayed by the students make the celebrations worth it. At the end of the day, keeping in tune with the housekeeping week celebration, prizes were distributed to the winners of the institution. Appreciating the endeavours of the students, Honourable Chairman Sir, Mr. Rajib Sen said, “Celebrating this type of events brings forth enthusiasm and team spirit among the students, which is very much essential for the Hospitality Industry.”
