RCC Institute of Information Technology (RCCIIT) (NBA & NAAC accredited), Kolkata, which is one of the oldest and premier engineering colleges in West Bengal, runs by a not-for-profit autonomous Society of Department of Higher Education, Govt. of West Bengal.
Inauguration event of the Smart Bengal Hackathon (SBH)-2024
The institute offers B.Tech and M.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Sc., Information Technology & allied branches, MCA and also BCA, B.Sc (Computer Science) and imparting education & placement in IT & core sector around 25 Years. RCC Institute of Information Technology organised for the 2nd time the prestigious event "Smart Bengal Hackathon 2024 (SBH - 2024)" on 16 & 17 April 2024.

The event was initiated by the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), RCCIIT and jointly organised by IQAC, Student Welfare committee and Alumni association of RCCIIT.
Evaluation by the Jury Members in the School level event (SBH-Junior)
This State-level Hackathon competition is focused on providing SC. & Engineering students (SBH-Senior) and School students (SBH-Junior) to solve some of the common problems of society as well as problems faced by Industry, thus inculcating a culture of product innovation and a mindset of real-life problem-solving. SBH-Junior was held on 16 April 2024 and SBH Senior was organised on 17 April 2024.

Dept. of IT & Electronics, Govt. of West Bengal provides the major financial support to this event. The event also received financial support from the SBH Registration & Promotion Website Company Devfolio & Aspecta.id. Various technical & professional bodies like IE (I), IEEE Kolkata section, ISTE, IETE, IEEE EDS, IEEE Women in Engineering, IEEE SSCS, IEEE CAS, Robotic Society of India (RSI), CSI, and others also extends their technical support for these events.

The event was also promoted by the media partner ABP Digital & FM Radio.
These 2 days event was inaugurated on 16 April by the honourable Joint Secretary, Dept. of IT & Electronics, Govt. of West Bengal, Shri Partha Sarathi Dam by lighting lamp in the presence distinguish guests, Prof. (Dr.) Amlan Chakraborty, Director, A.K. Choudhury School of Information Technology, University of Calcutta.

Mr. Nirupam Chaudhuri, Director, and Nasscom and Mrs. Preeti Shah, I/C Principal, PM SHRI KV No.1 Salt Lake. Prof. (Dr) Anirban Mukherjee, Principal In-charge of RCCIIT welcomes all these distinguished guests & participants during the inauguration.
In this Hackathon event in a team max 4 students with a mentor for the SBH Junior & 06 students (01 girl mandatory) with a mentor for SBH Senior are invited for registration.

All participants showcase their innovative ideas and real time model according to their choice of concerns against 20 Themes and 24 Industry oriented & real-life Problem Statements like AI, IOT, Machine Learning, Renewable Energy, Electric Vehicle, Block-chain, Image Processing, Agriculture, safety & security, Biomedical etc.
Around 635 innovative idea submissions were received from different reputed colleges and schools from West Bengal and other outside states. After initial screening 357 teams are accepted for technical review. Out of which 80 teams from SBH-senior and 41 teams from SBH-junior categories are selected for idea presentation in the grand final round.

There are around 20 jury members were involved from the mainframe industries, academic and research institutes like Ericsson India Pvt. Ltd, Cognizant, PWC, CDAC, Digital Data Corporation, Pixel Consultancy, Annalect India, SETU Business School Pvt Ltd, Entiovi Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Websoft IOT etc. for the evaluation process in the grand final round.

In school level competition South Point High School wins the 1st Prize, Army Public School Kolkata and Lions Calcutta Greater Vidya Mandir are the 2nd & 3rd prize winners respectively. In college level competition, Heritage Institute of Technology is the 1st prize winner, RCC Institute of Information Technology; Budge Budge Institute of Technology win the 2nd & 3rd prize respectively. In the Day -2 event, Ujjyaini Mitra, Founder & CEO - SETU Business School Pvt Ltd was invited to hand over certificates & awards to the winning teams.
