The grand inaugural ceremony of MTIM was graced by Reverend Father Principal Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ, Vice-principal Prof. Bertram Da’Silva, MTIM convenor Dr. Arup Kumar Mitra, Microbiology Head of the Department Prof. Debjani Dutta, guest speaker, Dr. Anshuman Lahiri from the University of Calcutta and other dignitaries.

The oral presentation competition conducted among both UG and PG students constituted a very enlightening seminar on an array of diverse scientific topics. All students put their best foot forward in putting forth their scientific ideas. They were judged by internal professors on the basis of the quality of the presentation, the novelty of the topic, and their diction.

The UG 2nd year students won the hearts of the audience with fusion melodies from the 90s and banger folk song
The PG musical team presented modern hits that set up a vibe that was hard to shake off even after the end of the performance.
The dancing team with UG and PG students combined put forth a spectacular rendition surrounding the central theme of Durga Puja. With puja being around the corner, the atmosphere created via these performances mesmerized the audience.

Organizing committee MTIM 2023
The alumni dinner was a significant and unique highlight of MTIM 2023. In order to mark 2 decades of this educational extravaganza, alumni of the microbiology department of St. Xavier’s College Kolkata, from all over the world were invited to revisit their roots. This signified the evolution of MTIM over the years as the evening was spent in happy rumination of their memories of their time at their alma mater.
