M. C. Kejriwal Vidyapeeth hosted their much anticipated Mélange 2023, an inter-school festival on 6 and 7 October 2023. Organised as a collaborative effort by the senior students, the two-day festival, engaged fifteen schools from Kolkata and Howrah in a multitude of events. The participating schools comprised The Heritage School, Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar, Sunrise English Medium School, Shree Jain Vidyalaya (Howrah-Girls), Madhusthali Vidyapeeth, St. Denis School, Agrasain Balika Siksha Sadan, St.Helen’s School, Gurukul School, Adamas International School, Asian International School, Holy Family Convent School, Ratnakar North Point School and I.P. Memorial School.

The inaugural event began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Mr Kishan Kumar Kejriwal, Chairman, MCKV Group, Dr Parthasarathi Chakraborty, CEO, MCKV Group, Mr Neelkantha Gupta, Director, Ms Mallika Mukherjee, Principal, MCKV, Mr Abhay Kejriwal, Trustee, Mr Biswajit Majumdar, Headmaster and the student representatives of the various participating schools, amidst the soulful rendition of Ganesh Vandana by the students of Kindergarten. Uday Bansal, the School Captain and the President of the Mélange 2023 team, in his inaugural speech, spoke about championing collaboration and embracing curiosity in the pursuit of knowledge and creativity.

Following his address was a video presentation to introduce the participating schools and a musical presentation. Mr Kishan Kumar Kejriwal, Chairman, MCKV Group, along with other dignitaries and the teacher representatives of the participating schools declared the fest open.

The students of the participating schools put their best feet forward in all thirty events, which included declamation, martial arts, debate, basketball, fashion show, shark tank and many more. In slam poetry, the students of Classes 11 and 12, through their well-crafted verses, brought the joys, challenges, and transformative power of friendship to life.

The kabaddi matches were intense and closely contested, marked by moments of quick thinking, strategic tagging and daring escapes, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats.

The literary quiz event saw participants answering questions from classic and contemporary literature. The BGMI matches tested the reflexes and tactical decision-making of the gamers of participating schools in the virtual battleground.

The closing ceremony commenced on a spiritual note, with the resonating chant of Vedic mantras followed by a fusion dance performance that encapsulated the diverse spirit of Mélange 2023. Certificates, medals and trophies were presented to the outstanding performers and schools in various categories, acknowledging their hard work and dedication. The Heritage School was declared the Winner of Mélange 2023. Sunrise English Medium School and Agrasain Balika Siksha Sadan were the First and Second Runners-up respectively. Tanay Agarwal, the Secretary of the Mélange 2023 committee, proposed an impassioned vote of thanks reflecting on the fest’s journey while emphasising the growth, camaraderie and lifelong lessons that participants had gained. The festival was brought to a close with a power-packed performance by the popular band, The Bolly Monkeys.
