Lakshmipat Singhania Academy marks 29th Founder's Day with élan

Lakshmipat Singhania Academy celebrated its 29th Founder’s Day with grandeur on December 7, 2024, at the Kalamandir auditorium. The event was marked by a harmonious blend of nostalgia, creativity, and thought-provoking discussions, leaving the audience inspired.

Emcees Ahaana Bajoria and Aryaman Pachisia extended warm greetings to an illustrious panel of guests, including Sanjeev Sanyal, Member of the Economic Advisory Committee, Office of the Honourable Prime Minister of India, and esteemed dignitaries Sharda Singhania and Mamta Singhania. In a meaningful gesture, the guests were presented with potted plants, symbolising sustainability, growth and the enduring spirit of the institution.

The programme opened with an enthralling performance by the school choir, celebrating the spirit of women empowerment. Their musical medley paid tribute to the transformative contributions of women throughout history. Meanwhile, young artists added a visual treat by creating a live art piece, captivating the audience and setting a dynamic tone for the event.

The ceremony officially commenced as the dignitaries paid floral tributes to the late founder, Lala Lakshmipat Singhania, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp – an enduring tradition signifying the triumph of knowledge over ignorance.

Meena Kak, Director of the Academy, delivered an inspiring address that resonated deeply with the young audience. Emphasising the rapidly evolving educational landscape, she encouraged students to think innovatively: “Dream beyond boundaries. Aim not just to be job seekers but job providers. The world needs innovators, entrepreneurs, and problem-solvers. Start small—every big idea has humble beginnings. Think of ways you can address real-world challenges in a sustainable and creative manner. Use your curiosity to come up with ideas that can one day transform your communities, your country, and perhaps even the world. Remember, great leaders are not afraid to walk on uncharted paths.”

Principal Jaya Misra followed with the annual school report, spotlighting the institution’s impressive achievements in academics, co-curricular activities, and community initiatives. This was complemented by Bharat Hari Ji Singhania’s address, where he underscored the Academy's commitment to holistic development: “Our vision for the academy has always been to provide more than just academic excellence. One of the key areas we have focused on, is empowering students with 21st century skills, critical thinking, creativity and collaboration. Along with these skills, we also believe in instilling empathy and a sense of responsibility because technology alone, cannot build a better society. Only people with values can. Dear students, I want to remind you that you have the potential to be a force of positive change.”

Chief Guest Sanjeev Sanyal, Member of the Economic Advisory Committee, Office of the Honourable Prime Minister of India; delivered a thought-provoking speech, urging educators and students to embrace the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence: "Education has to move up the value chain from simply delivering lectures. The teaching community has to upskill itself rapidly. Knowledge is essentially about skills and application. There are enormous opportunities that surface with the advent of Artificial Intelligence, including free access to information and we must be ready to embrace it.”

The event proceeded with the prize distribution ceremony, recognising students’ excellence in academics and co-curricular pursuits. Head Boy Taraksh Garodia and Head Girl Vidishaa Mundhra expressed heartfelt gratitude in their vote of thanks, appreciating the efforts of the dignitaries, faculty, and staff in making the day memorable.

The cultural highlight of the day was a spellbinding dance drama that paid homage to four legendary Oscar-winning directors – Alfred Hitchcock, Satyajit Ray, Akira Kurosawa, and Steven Spielberg. The performance delved into their works, showcasing how cinema serves as a powerful educational and transformative tool. Through vivid storytelling, the drama inspired students to view films not just as entertainment but as mediums for learning and personal growth.

As the curtains fell on this momentous occasion, Lakshmipat Singhania Academy once again proved its dedication to nurturing young minds, blending tradition with modernity, and empowering its students to become future leaders and changemakers.
