The students of Jadavpur University's Department of Economics are charged with enthusiasm as they launch the 16th edition of their homegrown initiative, the "Young Economist Students' Meet" (YESM). Emerging as one of the biggest Economics fests in Eastern India, YESM aims to identify future global citizens and budding economists.
This three-day event, scheduled for January 29th, 30th, and 31st, 2024, offers a platform for participants to engage in intellectual exercises such as paper presentations, case studies, Oxford-style debates, photography, art, essay writing, mock classrooms, and various other events. Welcoming students from schools (XI & XII) and colleges nationwide, YESM fosters an environment for the exchange of ideas and the development of strong team spirit.
In addition to these activities, YESM presents illuminating panel discussions and guest lectures featuring distinguished scholars, academics, and professionals. The theme for the 16th edition is "Economic Renaissance: Navigating Modern Transformations." A highlight of this year's YESM is the flagship event, "Mahanagar," poised to showcase economic prowess and steal the spotlight. The event aims to explore the prospects and challenges of our transforming world while seeking innovative ideas from participants.
