In Pictures: Road Safety Week at schools across Kolkata

Birla High School, being an institution responsive to any environmental issues, has taken upon itself the duty to set things right through a collaborative process. The school has taken the initiative of conducting a No Honking and Anti-Pollution Campaign for a long time.After the pandemic, we have restarted the No Honking and Anti-Pollution Campaign on a regular basis (on all working days from 15 November 2022 onwards in front of Birla High School, around Hungerford Street area from 7:20 am to 8:00 am on all working days. Selected boys of classes VIII and IX are taking part in the campaign. The students positioned themselves to display ‘NO HORN & ANTI-POLLUTION’ placards under the able guidance of teachers-in-charge Mr. Goutam Ghosh and Mr. N. N. Mishra and the overall in charge, Mr. Binay Biswas.
Birla High School
Indus Valley World School in association with the Kolkata Traffic Police observed the Road Safety week 2023 on the 7th of February at the school Auditorium where all the school bus and car drivers were made aware of the Road Safety rules and its management during their daily course of work. They were exposed to various traffic rules, signages,formats and updated regulations to be followed on the road to avoid traffic violations and promote road safety. Inculcating road culture and safe driving habits among the vehicle drivers were the key address areas and Sergeant Rudranath Mukherjee from the Traffic Training School of Kolkata Police was the chief trainer for the day.
Indus Valley World School
Around 17 students of Lakshmipat Singhania Academy from classes 7-9 made posters and pictures for traffic rule as a part of the Traffic awareness week organised by Kolkata Police. Amongst them 12 posters were selected and handed over to KP on 3rd Feb. 20 students from class 7 also stood on the road with traffic safety precaution placards. The school was given a trophy by the Kolkata Police as a token of appreciation and showing extensive support to the traffic safety awareness.
Lakshmipat Singhania Academy
Techno India Group Public School was privileged to become a part of Road Safety Week of Kolkata Traffic Police (Garia Traffic Guard) on 10th February and was invited to perform a street play that was conducted at Patuli crossing, Kolkata. 22 enthusiastic students of the school accompanied by five teachers went to Patuli crossing where they performed a street play on road safety measures. They tried to create mass awareness among people to emphasize the importance of road safety. The skit was performed by the students under the mentorship of the drama teacher from the school.
Techno India Group Public School, Garia
The Primary Section of Sushila Birla Girls’ School observed Road Safety Week with great enthusiasm from 9th January to 13th January 2023. Safety rules in school, on the road, at home and during a picnic were discussed at length with the children.
Sushila Birla Girls School
Students of grade 9 and 11 participated in a sit n draw event organized by Jadavapur Traffic Guard on 9th February, 2023. The topic was : Lane driving is sane driving. It was an enriching experience and all the students were also felicitated. Students were taught the importance of safety week and why it is observed every year and what rules they are supposed to follow in order to stay safe.
South City International School
Organized by the Kolkata Police , the ‘Safe Drive Save Life’ (SDSL) Marathon took place on the morning of 12.02.2023. The participants enthusiastically assembled on the ground floor of the Rangers Club of Kolkata. More than 3000 runners from all across the city (particularly schools) participated in the event. Ten students of Std. XI from B.D.M. International marked their presence for the charismatic event. They assembled at the Gemstone building of the school at 05:00 A.M. sharp and were escorted to the venue by the teachers of the school. The marathon had different categories of running like the 21.1 km, 10 km and 5 km stretch. A total of Rs. 18 lacs of prize money was sanctioned by the organizer for the event.
