Convolution 9.0, the much anticipated techno-management fest hosted by the Department of Electrical Engineering, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, was held from 15 to 17 March, with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm.
The three day technical event saw participation from colleges all across the nation, connecting people with similar scientific temperament and innovative excellence. Following the Inauguration event, Day 1 witnessed students participating in Eureka, an event aimed to test the logical and mathematical aptitude of the participants.
Needless to say, the event was a great success with over 300 participants, of which 10 teams qualified for the final showdown. The next event, which probably had the largest number of enthusiastic participants from a diverse variety of educational backgrounds, was Inquizzitive. With their knowledge about the world and 'anything under the sky' put to test, 3 teams finally emerged victorious after a tense competition.
What is a technological fest hosted by the Electrical Engineering department without breadboards and multimeters? Circuistics, an event designed to test the electronic potential in participants, marked the inception of Day 2 of the fest. This was followed by Sparkhack finals, in which a team from Narula Institute of Technology, Kolkata emerged as the winners with their innovative idea of a Bionic arm to help the elderly with Parkinson's disease.
After Team Hyphae emerging winners in Decisia, for their unique business proposition of making leather from Mycelium mushroom, Day 2 saw its final event, Abol Tabol. Abol Tabol is an unique amalgamation of humour and scientific theories. The name was properly justified by its winner Satrajit Mukherjee of Jadavpur University, who pitched his idea about an infinite money matrix.
The photographs clicked by 24 Frames winners graced the walls of the department, as spectators stopped to admire the beauty of the pictures. The Final day started with the Algomaniac finals,a hackathon and coding event devised by the students of JUEE. This event had a massive participation of over 40,000 participants in the open contest on CodeChef in its prelims of which 15 people were shortlisted for the finals.
JU Talks , an event in which distinguished individuals engaged in a thought-provoking conversation centred around the topic: ‘Responsibility for students’ anxiety and depression: Individual accountability versus societal pressures, marked the end of the events of Convolution 9.0. The fest officially came to an end with the Prize Distribution Ceremony and the Closing Ceremony.
