In a significant move aimed at bolstering research and addressing the socio-economic and logistical challenges in the North-East region, the Indian Institute of Management Shillong (IIM Shillong) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI). This collaboration marks the establishment of a Centre of Excellence (CoE) at IIM Shillong, dedicated to North-East India Studies, with a strong focus on trade, movement, and related sectors.
The MoU was formalised by Prof DP Goyal, Director of IIM Shillong, and Shri Ajeet Kumar Singh, Director of Operations at LPAI. The event witnessed the presence of notable dignitaries, including Shri Atul C Kulkarni, Member of IIM Shillong’s Board of Governors, and Shri Aditya Mishra, Chairman of LPAI, among others. This partnership will also see the creation of the LPAI Chair at IIM Shillong, a position that will spearhead research initiatives and contribute thought leadership in key areas relevant to the region.
