‘I want to pursue finance & business after school’, says, Vaibhav Giani, 18 under 18 winner

16-year-old Vaibhav Giani from La Martiniere for Boys, Kolkata won the Popular Choice Award in the Telegraph Online Edugraph 18 under 18 Awards. His groundbreaking book, "The Kashmir Chromosome," showcases his dedication of spotlighting the achievements of Kashmiris.

The Telegraph Online Edugraph got in touch with him right after his win and he added “It was a very exhilarating process beginning from writing the article to upload on The Telegraph website and to being interviewed by Dr. Debanjan Chakrabarti. I honestly had no expectations when my mother sent in my nominations, however, I was extremely happy when I saw my name in the top finalist list. When the voting process started for the popular choice award I shared the link to as many people as I could and asked them to vote for me. I feel this really helped me win and I am extremely grateful to the people who voted for me”.

In his book, Giani weaves together 25 stories of sports, literature, poetry, governance, and more. Few of the narratives include the first female commercial pilot from Kashmir, the inaugural cricketer from the region to represent India internationally, and a woman who administered 6000 vaccines during the COVID-19 pandemic. His focus on highlighting the accomplishments of Kashmiris, particularly women, has earned him widespread recognition, including the 'Most Promising Young Talent' Award at the India Excellence Awards.

“I believe this recognition from The Telegraph Online Edugraph has motivated me to read and write more. I was also very happy to see Mrs Sudha Murthy ma’am and hear her speech. When I received the plaque that the top finalists got, it was a good feeling standing on the stage in front of everyone. I believe after this I will always come out as a better version of myself” said Vaibhav.

As the editor of La Martiniere For Boys' school magazine, "The Chronicle," he showcased his flair for writing and editorial expertise. His writing skills reached an international stage, where he won the Bronze Award in the Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Writing Competition amid stiff global competition. In the past he had also conducted workshops and a 4-month training program, preparing students for Inter-School MUNs. In inter-school business conclaves, our young achiever had also secured awards in events like Shark Tanks, Mock Stock Events, and Pitch competitions.

“After school I want to go The United States and pursue finance and business. My dream college is Stern School of Business and I have applied there already. Apart from this I actively trade in the stock market and analyse stocks to understand the value of money” signs off Vaibhav
