Advertising Guru and Icon Mr Prahlad Kakkar visited Heritage Group of Institutions, Kolkata, on 5th November for a Masterclass on Advertising and Branding. The programme was conducted as a curtain raiser for the event AD ADDA 2022, an AD competition organized by the Department of Media Science, The Heritage Academy under the aegis of Heritage Group of Institutions.

Adman Prahlad Kakkar was greeted by Mr Pradip Agarwal, CEO of Heritage Group of Institutions along with Prof. Basab Chaudhuri, Principal, Heritage Institute of Technology, Prof. Gour Bannerjee, Principal, The Heritage Academy, Prof. Madhupa Bakshi, Dean, Department of Media Science, The Heritage Academy and other faculty and staff members of the Institutions.

Addressing the crowd, Mr Kakkar stated that advertising is about tomorrow. As an advertiser, one needs to understand what the future is. “The future is the dreams of the young people of how they can better themselves, the Society and the Country,” said Mr Kakkar.

Citing some of the classic examples, Mr Kakkar said that as an advertiser, one needs to tap into the dreams and create a story which is worth engaging and can be recalled by the target audience. Additionally, he stressed the fact that a story can only compel the audience to buy a product and make it a success. Henceforth, it is necessary for an advertiser to make compelling stories that can pull the audience and it can happen only if we can go in-depth into the dreams of today’s youth.

The masterclass was attended by students and faculty members of various colleges and universities across the state, such as Adamas University, Amity University, Brainware University, SNU and more.

“The session was wonderful and fascinating. Within a short time, the entire audience knew about the prerequisites of a good advertisement. I thank Mr Kakkar for this wonderful session and would appreciate more such sessions in the future,” said Mr Pradip Agarwal, CEO, Heritage Group of Institutions, Kolkata.
