Amity Law School, Amity University, organised a One Day National Seminar on Contemporary Legal Aspects of Human Rights and its Challenges at its New Town Campus on Friday, November 10. The seminar, held in collaboration with Jorhat Law College, Assam, recognised the evolving dynamics of human rights amidst societal, technological and geopolitical shifts. The speakers delved deep into the legal, sociocultural, economic and political dimensions, acknowledging the holistic nature of human rights.

Speaking at the event, Prof Dr Sanjay Kumar, the Vice Chancellor at Amity University talked about the global relevance of human rights, emphasising on their interconnectedness and the imperative for an interdisciplinary approach.
Dr Kumar made a special mention of some of the burning issues like the inhuman treatment of the prisoners, extrajudicial killings and unjustified arrests and prosecutions.

Justices Biswaroop Chaudhury and Biswajit Basu of Calcutta High Court, while speaking at the event, provided profound insights into human rights jurisprudence, addressed challenges and advocated for legal education.
The seminar included technical sessions, panel discussions and research paper presentations exploring contemporary issues, legal frameworks, judiciary roles, and the intersectionality of human rights.
The seminar drew an audience from a wide section of the society including Law students, academicians, legal practitioners, activists, government representatives, international delegates, and research scholars.
