Radhika Kejriwal of Mahadevi Birla World Academy with her dedication and practice, has gone on to become one of the fastest skaters in West Bengal. She has won gold thrice in the state’s Roller Skates Championship held in 2022. Speed Skating has always been her passion and that is what drives her.

When asked how she feels about being one of the fastest skaters in West Bengal, she says, “It's a good feeling when people recognise my efforts. Every victory takes me one step towards attaining my goal.”

Radhika practices in 3 separate sessions as a part of her daily schedule, each session lasting 3 hours. The class 8 student describes skating as one of the thrilling activities in the sports domain. “Skating is like flying on the wheels defying gravity with every stride. It's a thrilling sport that requires hard work, dedication and courage. It's about pushing your body to its limits, feeling the wind on your face and burning in your muscles. It's about overcoming challenges, embracing failures and coming back stronger.” She also credits the sport with qualities that will aid her in the future.

“It is also about a sense of community among fellow skaters. It has taught me to be patient, work hard and never give up.”

Speaking about her future plans, the girl proudly says, “Standing on the middle podium, watching my national flag fly, and hearing my national anthem is a feeling that just can't be replaced. I want to get international medals for my country, thus making the country proud.”

But that's not all - Radhika also has other bigger plans for the future.

“Besides this, in the long-term, I hope to advance in the IT industry and become a leader in my field. I am always looking for opportunities to learn and grow, and I believe that with hard work and dedication achieving your desired career goals is never a challenge.”
