Sister Nivedita University, situated in New Town Kolkata, offers a variety of different courses and holistic education. A recent graduate from their English Honours programme, Soham Sen, shares his experience with us.
In 2019, while looking for colleges after my 12th board results, I came across Sister Nivedita University. Freshly out of school and looking for a place where I could pursue my dreams efficiently, this university seemed very inviting with its large campus and well-maintained infrastructure. I was new to the city and wanted to start well into a new chapter of my life. And SNU managed to excel at providing just that.
I enrolled here in the English Honours program, and over the course of 3 years, I was provided with excellent educational facilities. This department of English at SNU enhanced my qualifications significantly, both on paper and in practical life. The marvellous coursework this department provides is directed largely towards the personal and collective growth of their students. It has helped me develop numerous invaluable skills, like the ability to think for myself, communicate with people better, be more cooperative with others and have a voice. This has changed me as a person itself, and given me more confidence in myself, even around others I do not know. In addition, the students have access to several co-curricular courses that I feel have benefitted me greatly. Foreign language courses, generic electives, seminars, literary events and performing arts clubs are some of the things students can indulge in, to name a few. Even the activities arranged for entertainment are refreshing and make for a positive experience for the mind. All of this helps an individual to find their passion and their place in life, as it has helped me. It is a great place for nurturing young minds, especially those fresh out of school set for a completely new journey.
