Sister Nivedita University, Kolkata emerged as the driving digital force behind the 47th International Kolkata Book Fair, a role it has embraced for three consecutive years. Not merely a task; it has been a journey of elevating engagement and transforming mundane coverage into captivating experiences for book enthusiasts worldwide.
With a dynamic 25 member student team, guided by esteemed professors and Technical teachers, the university seamlessly integrated into the heart of the Boi Mela Prangan, setting the stage for innovation and immersion long before the fair commenced.
A technological fortress was erected, featuring a server room equipped with 11 edit machines, live cam setups, switchers, mixers and a dedicated server box with high speed internet access. But that was merely the foundation. Cameras were strategically positioned in the SBI Auditorium and Press Corner, capturing every moment, supplemented by floaters for comprehensive coverage, ensuring no detail escaped their lens.
Their mission extended beyond the physical boundaries of the fairgrounds. They curated immersive Book Fair stories, bridging distances for those unable to attend, bringing the essence of the fair to the comfort of their homes. From comprehensive event coverage to hard-hitting news reports and touching human interest stories, they left no stone unturned.
Divided into specialised teams, the students operated like a well-oiled machine, with one group managing cameras, another dedicated to reporting and a third stationed at the edit bay. Under the watchful eye of their faculty, they navigated deadlines and pressures with precision, mirroring real world scenarios and preparing for industry challenges.
But their commitment did not end there. Embracing the full spectrum of digital reporting, the students delved into live broadcasts, walkthroughs and interviews, equipped with Mojo kits for versatility in any situation.
The Book Fair became their battleground, where they stood shoulder to shoulder with seasoned professionals, offering audiences a glimpse into the magic of the fair, tantalising their literary senses, and fostering a sense of belonging to the second largest book gathering in the world.
