EIILM-Kolkata on Friday, September 27, inaugurated the EIILM Kolkata Centre for Leadership & Ethics (EKCLE), marking a significant advancement in its mission to cultivate ethical leadership among future corporate leaders. This new center aims to serve as a global hub for ethical leadership and industry collaboration, emphasising the integration of values into management education.

During the launch event, Prof (Dr) Rama Prosad Banerjee, Senior Academician and Chairman and Director of EIILM Kolkata, shared insights on the critical role of ethical principles in the workplace. He articulated that while leaders may be shaped by their heritage, the upcoming generation will act as both prophets of the present and architects of the future. He highlighted EKCLE's goal of sensitising students to the intrinsic elements of leadership, linking these to historical context while preparing them for future challenges.

Dr Banerjee described EKCLE as more than just an academic institution; it is envisioned as a nurturing ground for the sharpest young minds to learn how to harmonize fundamental life principles with the art and science of management. This holistic approach aims to develop well-rounded leaders who can navigate the complexities of modern business environments while adhering to ethical standards.

"It is said that leaders are born through heritage; the future leaders are going to be the prophet of the present and profit of the future, invariably embodying the past. EKCLE is poised to sensitise the intrinsic elements of leadership connecting that with the global past, focusing on the decades and centuries ahead," he said.

A significant aspect of the launch was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between EIILM-Kolkata and SEGi University, Malaysia. This partnership will facilitate a Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) program with a global residency teaching module at the university.

Stella Lau Kah Wai, Managing Director of Group Operations, Globalisation and Digitalisation at SEGi University, emphasized that education is about shaping students' characters. She asserted that influencing their personal development is essential for creating a better future.

"At SEGi University we provide students with the knowledge of who they will become. It is the question of their character. If we can influence their decision as to who they will become, we can transform our future generation and create a better world," she said.

EKCLE is set to offer a diverse range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in collaboration with renowned institutions, including SEGi University, AICPA & CIMA, upGrad, and the University of South Florida, USA.

The center aims to implement Management Development Programs (MDPs), corporate training initiatives, and global seminars that will focus on experiential learning and industry internships. This practical approach to education is designed to prepare students for real-world challenges, enhancing their employability and leadership capabilities.

Overall, the establishment of EKCLE represents a commitment to fostering a new generation of leaders who prioritise ethical decision-making and value-driven management practices. By integrating global perspectives and experiential learning into its curriculum, EIILM-Kolkata aims to equip its students with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in an increasingly complex and interconnected world.

The center's initiatives are expected to play a pivotal role in shaping leaders who are not only proficient in business acumen but also committed to ethical practices, ultimately contributing to a more responsible and sustainable corporate landscape.
