This summer got a lot more interesting with The Telegraph Online Edugraph’s exciting series of workshops, being held from 18 May to 11 June 2024 with Sri Sri Academy as the venue partner. Recognising the growing importance of skill building, the Workshops promise a journey of learning, creativity, and exploration from the best in the industry.
Code Craft: Coding Workshop for Teens
Delving into the world of coding, the workshop for teens was conducted by CodeIIEST, the coding club of IIEST Shibpur from 21-23 May 2024.
About CodeIIEST
CodeIIEST is the official coding club of the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur. Known for its dedication to promoting coding excellence and fostering innovation, CODEIIEST provides a platform for members to enhance their coding skills, participate in coding-related activities, and collaborate with like-minded individuals.
Led by Soirindhri Das (Department of Information Technology) & Sarah Jane Topno (Department of Computer Science and Technology) (2nd-year students) and Nafis Adnan Mondal, 3rd-year student (Department of Electrical Engineering), the workshop was designed to provide a foundational understanding of coding principles.
Inspiring the next generation of tech innovators, this interactive session began with the basics of Python - Diving into Python fundamentals, from variables to control structures, offering hands-on learning experiences.
Promising an interactive learning environment, the workshop additionally covered in-depth topics like:
More Python - Unravelling the world of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and delving into the myriad libraries Python has to offer.
Making a snake game in Python - Embarking on a journey to craft a classic snake game entirely from scratch, mastering Python's capabilities along the way.
Mentors from the IIEST Shibpur stated their experience with the workshop saying, “These 3 days of the workshop were really interesting and the students especially were very curious. We especially chose to teach Python, as right now it is the leading programming language and that is what has kept the kids engaged throughout the session.
“The kids were over-enthusiastic. They were asking questions not only related to Python but also about coding in general. We had in mind to teach them the basics and how they can make the most out of this programming language.”
By nurturing curiosity and providing the tools for creative expression, The Telegraph Online Edugraph has a host of other exciting workshops lined up.
