The spotlight was firmly on creativity and young talent as Don Bosco School Liluah hosted the much-awaited Bosco Showtime, its seventh interschool short film festival, on 12 August, 2023. From 10 am to 4 pm, the school's premises came alive with cinematic fervor, celebrating the power of storytelling and filmmaking prowess.
Themed "Fractured Realities: Codependence or Counter Dependence, The Human - AI Construct," the event delved into the intriguing dynamics between humanity and artificial intelligence, sparking innovative narratives from young minds across schools. A grand showcase of creativity and innovation, Bosco Showtime brought together over 15 schools, each contributing unique perspectives through their thought-provoking short films.
The highlight of the festival was the announcement of the Best Short Film award, a recognition bestowed upon the captivating creations from Don Bosco School Liluah, WWA Cossipore, and Aditya Birla Vani Bharati School. These schools demonstrated exceptional storytelling and technical finesse, earning well-deserved accolades.
The event was further graced by the presence of the esteemed actor Abir Chatterjee, known for his remarkable performances. His role as the chief guest added a touch of stardom to the occasion, inspiring the young filmmakers and reaffirming the importance of nurturing creativity.
In addition to the screening of exceptional short films, an interactive session with students offered a unique platform for sharing insights and experiences. This exchange of ideas added an educational dimension to the festival, enriching the participants' understanding of the world of cinema.
Acknowledging individual brilliance, the festival also recognized standout performances. St. Agnes Convent clinched the Best Female Actress award, while Don Bosco School Liluah secured the Best Editor award. The Best Male Actor award found a deserving recipient in Aditya Birla Vani Bharati School. Notably, IP Memorial claimed the Supporting Female Actor award, adding another layer of diversity to the talent pool.
The success of Bosco Showtime was made possible through the concerted efforts of Don Bosco School Liluah's dedicated team, including Father Manoj Jose (Principal), Father Davis Veliyan (Rector), and Father Ananda Raj (Bursar). Teachers-in-charge, Mr Rajorshi Chatterjee, and Ms Tinny Roy, alongside the students' committee, played instrumental roles in orchestrating the event's triumph.
