Delhi Public School Ruby Park, Kolkata held its Annual Senior School Sports Meet on Sunday, December 17 at the Geetanjali Stadium. The event was graced by Aloke Mukherjee, a former member of the Indian Football team who has also been the coach of the national team.
The event also witnessed the presence of distinguished mountaineer Debasish Biswas, a recipient of the Tenzing Norgey National Adventure Award.

The Sports meet kicked off with the Principal of the school, Joyoti Chaudhuri, extending her warm welcome to the participants and the guests and highlighting the importance of sports in shaping one's character.
This was followed by the Welcome Song 'Final Countdown' by the Senior School Choir reflecting the indomitable human spirit that strides, sprints and jumps to succeed despite all odds. The enthralled audience witnessed an exemplary show of sportsmanship and camaraderie.

The Flag Hoisting ceremony and Lighting of the Torch were followed by a spectacular and well-coordinated March Past by the contingents of the six Houses namely, Chenab, Ganga, Jhelum, Kaveri, Narmada, and Teesta. This was followed by the contingent of NCC which left the spectators speechless and awestruck.
The meet was declared open with the symbolic release of balloons into the clear winter sky.

The students participated in the field and track events with much enthusiasm and spirit with their family members and friends cheering for them. The athletic events included ‘Flat Races’, ‘Relay Races’, ‘Hurdles’, ‘Shot-Put’ and ‘Tug of War’.
The students also showcased their talents in Karate and Aerobics at the annual sports. The Karate students performed the ‘Kihons’, or the fundamental techniques of Karate, followed by two Katas, Kata-Heian Shodan and Kata-Seienchin, referring to combinations of karate movements. They also displayed a pyramid formation and concluded their display with the breaking of boards.

The theme for the Aerobics display this year was in synchronization with the G20 motto ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ – The World Is a Family and hence, a medley of classical tunes from different countries was adapted to be performed on aerobic exercises.
The agility, fluidity and precision displayed in these show events mesmerized the audience and the participant received a resounding applause.
The Sports meet came to an end with the prize distribution ceremony with the winners being awarded prizes for their accomplishments and a vote of thanks.
