Delhi Public School Ruby Park, Kolkata, recently celebrated a day dedicated to the dual pursuits of inner peace and artistic expression with the simultaneous observance of International Yoga Day and World Music Day on June 21st. The convergence of these two global events brought students and teachers together in a unique celebration of wellness and creativity.

The day began with a solemn acknowledgment of the ancient practice of yoga. Senior students kicked off the International Yoga Day festivities with an inspiring speech, emphasizing yoga's holistic benefits for physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. This was followed by a pledge and a live demonstration where various yoga asanas were showcased, highlighting their numerous advantages.

The highlight of the morning was the Inter-house Yoga Competition, where students from classes 6 to 12 demonstrated intricate techniques and forms, showcasing their dedication and skill. Not to be outdone, the teachers also participated in a rejuvenating yoga session, experiencing firsthand the tranquility and vigor that yoga brings. This shared practice fostered a sense of community and well-being among the participants, reinforcing the school's commitment to holistic education.

As the sun reached its zenith, the campus vibrated with the harmonious sounds of Fête de la Musique in celebration of World Music Day. The musical journey commenced with the lighting of the lamp and a soulful rendition of Ganesh Vandana, creating a profound atmosphere of reverence and joy. The opening semi-classical song “Albela Sajan Aayo Re” set the tone for the day’s performances.

The junior and middle school western choir captivated the audience with their heartfelt rendition of “A Million Dreams,” while the resonant melodies of Tagore’s Tunes on violin and piano filled the hall with a sense of timeless elegance. Instrumental prowess was on full display with different performances, leaving the audience spellbound.

The stage then came alive with a guitar ensemble, followed by the Western and Eastern rock bands who delivered powerful performances. Each musical note struck a chord, resonating deeply with the audience.

The day concluded on a high note with the final group performance by Tabla Lahara, which stirred the souls of all present and served as a poignant reminder of the beauty and joy that music brings into our lives.
