The matches on Day 2 of the CISCE West Bengal and North East Regional Football Tournament for Girls, 2023 were played on Wednesday at the host school, La Martiniere for Girls. Four teams fought it out in the U-19 category for a chance to play in the finals on 13 July 2023. The two teams who qualified in the semis were La Martiniere Girls and Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar.
Rakesh Ghosh, Coach and Physical Education Teacher of Sri Aurobindo Institute of Education, present at the event said that he feels that good coaching is important for these students to understand the game and perform better.
Dewakar Karmakar, recruiter and scout from CISCE, appreciated the initiative and said that it will inspire other schools to come up with women's football teams.
Along the same lines, Subho Mukherjee, Mathematics teacher and football enthusiast from Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar also commended the organisation and execution of the tournament by the host school, calling it 'par excellence'.
