CIEM marked World Environment Day with a vibrant celebration on its campus. Spearheaded by Prof (Dr) Puspitaranjan Bhattacharya, Director of Colleges, the event featured a tree plantation drive that saw the participation of dedicated teachers and enthusiastic students. Urban heat islands are urban areas experiencing higher temperatures than their rural counterparts, primarily due to human activities. By increasing the green cover on its campus, CIEM aims to mitigate these temperature spikes, creating a more comfortable and sustainable urban environment.
With a sprawling five and a half acres of land available, CIEM has embarked on an ambitious project to plant at least one thousand trees. This target will be achieved through a series of plantation drives designed to engage and motivate students and staff in environmental stewardship. The initiative contributes to the global fight against climate change while fostering a culture of environmental responsibility within the campus community.

Prof (Dr) Bhattacharya emphasised the importance of such initiatives, stating, "Our commitment to the environment goes beyond mere words.
