All the events were spread out uniformly on both days and the CARNIVAL OF RUST, 2023 embarked on the 29th of March with the Opening Ceremony wherein, the esteemed guests and the dignitaries were felicitated by the senior members of the society. This was followed by the opening address by Father Principal, Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, Principal and President of the Fine Arts Society. In his speech, he urged the participants and the organisers to enjoy the two days of carnivalesque fun to the fullest and expressed his happiness at the success of the event. His blessings and benediction elevated the harmony of the event and inspired one and all to give in their best.

Year after year, this society has succeeded in producing wonderful events, workshops, seminars, competitions, etc., and the start of this year was no different. While CARNIVAL OF RUST, 2023 had a plethora of events- EXPOSE´(Photostory); BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY (unconventional orchestra); VISIONARE (Videography); PIXEL PERFECT (Digital poster making); CHROMATIC CONVERGENCE (Mixed media/art collage); MOSAIQUE (Art and Photography Exhibition); M.E.L.A QUIZ (Quiz on Music, Entertainment, Literature and Art and Architecture); SALTARE (Western dance), …SUMMER OF SOUL had the firsts- SPONTANEOUS HARMONY (Improv Music) and BATTLE OF THE BANDS (Western Band)

Day 2 saw the summing up of the celebrations in the order of the “Mosaique”, the “Expose´”, the nail-biting M.E.L.A. quiz, the society documentary screening, and “the Battle of Bands” which was judged by eminent musical personalities like Mr. Amyt Dutta and Mr. Shayne Hyrapiet. Hyrapiet who also happens to be an alumnus of the college said that he was happy to be back and dedicated the commencement of his musical journey to the Depelchin Stage itself.

The Closing Ceremony finally evinced the felicitation of the President, the Deputy President, Prof. Bertram da Silva, and other dignitaries by the Assistant Secretary of the society, Miss Hiya Chatterjee. All the prize winners were also cordially rewarded with certificates and medals by the event-in-charges- Mr. Spandan Mazumdar and Miss. Sidra Choudhry along with the other Core Committee Members. The Secretary of the Students’ Council, Miss Subhangi Roy also joined the society members and cheered on the winners and the participants.

Overall, Carnival of Rust, 2023 was a massive success. It is now a legacy to be recounted to future generations. The event ended with the entire team posing for a group photograph while the audience cheered impatiently for the coming of the 2024 Carnival of Rust!
