The competition saw participation by 42 participants and was adjudged by three dignitaries from BML Munjal University - Prof. Pritam Baruah (Dean, School of Law), Prof. Abhishek Mishra (HoD and Program Director) and Prof. Sunishth Goyal (Faculty Associate). TFFS has always strived for providing opportunities to children beyond the classroom for a vibrant future, thus such an initiative was conceptualized by the school’s Legal Studies Teacher Ms. Manisha Ajmera.
The program was inaugurated and initiated at 8:40 a.m. as students arrived from across the city to take part in the event and attend mooting sessions, imbibing knowledge pertaining to legal reasoning and the courtroom. Participants, volunteers, staff members, and judges worked tirelessly, all equally engrossed yet spirited throughout the individual sessions until the final round and prize distribution, bringing the event to an end at approximately 4:30 p.m.
Dr. Baruah, shared with the students his journey from his school in Meghalaya through NALSAR, to Oxford University and University College London to study law. He stressed that India in the coming years will need a large pool of competent lawyers committed to the rule of law and equipped with sharp lawyering skills with an international orientation. The Principal of TFFS, Mr. Ranjan Mitter, briefed upon the careers and importance of lawyers in academic fields, including schools, emphasizing the changing world that future generations would need to adapt to and be aware of, in order to sustain a life filled with color despite the odds.
This event is an initiative of the School of Law, BML Munjal University to spread legal awareness among school students by allowing them a unique opportunity to experience simulated courtroom experience in the form of an inter-school moot court competition.
