The heart of the event beat with the synchrony of Courage, Justice, Unity, and Wisdom as the four houses stole the show with a march past that exuded the spirit of unity in diversity. The oath-taking ceremony, led by Student President Ipshita Bhardwaj, marked the auspicious beginning of the event.

The gala event was inaugurated with the release of colourful balloons. Followed by a dazzling display of ‘Torch Run’; wherein, the students in the field covered the circumference of the stadium in the Olympic tradition of running with lit-up torches. The official mascot for the B.D.M.I. Sports Meet 2023 was Waghoba, an ancient tribal tiger deity–the guardian figure to drive away the negative forces. The image of Waghoba with an enkindled torch in hand embodied the spirit of sportsmanship ignited in every heart present at the event.

When The Telegraph Online Edugraph asked the Principal as to what had inspired the choice of Waghoba as their official mascot, she informed, “We wanted to have a tiger as our mascot since the students have been working extensively on the Save the Tiger project and would be able to connect with it closely. Also, it is a symbol of inclusiveness”.

The team spirit, further enkindled with ‘Twist Titans’, a unique performance combining yoga and dance drill in an effort to pay tribute to Chandrayaan 3 was presented by the Upper Primary students (day shift) in which more than 950 participants took part with jaw-dropping dexterity.

That is what was witnessed on the 9th of December when almost 4,000 Senior School students gathered at Gitanjali Stadium to celebrate our Annual Sports Meet, 2023-24. As a school, we are very appreciative of the excitement shown by our parents, who not only gathered in the audience in large numbers to encourage their wards but also participated in the events organized for the parents. The entire team of teachers, staff, and students of BDMI are dedicated to the purpose, and we pledge to take our school to greater heights in the field of sports education".
