Birla Industrial and Technological Museum, on Friday, November 10 commemorated the World Science Day for Peace and Development to promote Sustainable Science for all through widely diverse informal science education and engagement activities addressing the critical topics articulated in the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

For this, day-long activities were arranged for students from St Augustine’s Day School, Kolkata, Calcutta Boys’ School, Sonarpur and Shibrampur Junior Basic School, South 24 Parganas. The activities included guided tours to galleries, science shows and interactive sessions, highlighting the significant role of science in society and underlining the importance of and relevance of science in our daily lives.

The International Science Center & Science Museum Day (ISCSMD) is an annual, global event illustrating the impact and reach of all the world’s science centres and science museums. It demonstrates the role of these institutions in sustainable development and solutions to challenges like climate change, human health, energy, waste, water shortages, gender, oceans, and other global issues.

Apart from this, official selections of the Goethe-Institut Science Film Festival 2023, which is a celebration of science communication in Southeast Asia, South Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America was screened for the students.
