The chief guest for the occasion was Consul General Manfred Auster, Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany.
This year, the preliminary round of the debate will be held on Monday 10th July ’23 followed by the final on 11th July ’23, in the Vidya Mandir auditorium.

The L. N. Birla Memorial Invitational Debate is a flagship event of Birla High School and has gained immense popularity over the years. It is the fulfilment of our late founder’s vision of a complete education for our pupils - one that would combine service with excellence and create independent and free-thinking individuals, who can confidently lead the country to new frontiers of knowledge and progress.

Last year on the 11th of July, the G. D. Birla Sabhaghar witnessed an intense exchange of words, wits and questions as the participants battled it out in the finale on the topic “For 75 years the Indian Education System has served the nation well”. The chief guest for the occasion was Consul General Manfred Auster, Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The Runner-up Team Award went to Teesta Ray and Umika Panda of Loreto House. The Jury award for Best Speaker was bagged by three speakers, Teesta Ray from Loreto House, Madhunisha Majumdar from Sushila Birla Girls’ School and Ram Daftari from Birla High School. The Best Speaker Award was bagged by Noyonika Ghose of Sushila Birla Girls’ School.

This year, the preliminary round of the debate will be held on Monday 10th July ’23 followed by the final on 11th July ’23, in the Vidya Mandir auditorium. Two students of class XI and XII from fourteen eminent Kolkata schools and two schools from Gurgaon and Lucknow respectively, will battle their agreements, disagreements and perspectives. Mr. Kevin Goh, Deputy Consul-General, Australian Consulate-General, Kolkata has kindly consented to grace the event as the chief guest.
