The Bhawanipur Education Society College (BESC) hosted the electrifying 9th edition of its annual Bhawanipur Dance Championship (BDC). Organized by "Flames," the college's dynamic dance collective, the event drew participants from colleges across Kolkata, transforming the campus into a pulsating hub of rhythm and artistry.
BDC 2024, themed “The Inner Odyssey,” took participants and audiences on a journey of self-discovery through movement, with sub-themes delving into human emotions. The opening ceremony, graced by the renowned mime artist Smt. Krishna Dutt and Rector & Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Dilip Shah, set an inspiring tone. The day also featured the unveiling of Umang 2024's theme, "Artificial Intelligence."
The competition showcased categories like Folk, Bollywood, Eastern, Western, and Street Dance. Highlights included the Folk Dance segment celebrating India's cultural diversity, a Bollywood showdown with reimagined classics, and the Eastern Group Dance, where teams interpreted the "Chakras of Life" through stunning choreography. The Street Battle electrified the audience with raw hip-hop energy, while the Western Group Dance highlighted the fusion of technology and creativity.
The grand finale crowned The Bhawanipur Education Society College as the overall winners, with NHSM College as the first runners-up. Special accolades included the Best Dancer title awarded to Bhumika Bhattacharjee for her standout performance.
The day ended with a celebratory DJ session where participants and volunteers danced their hearts out, epitomizing the spirit of BDC—art, emotion, and unyielding energy.
