The Bhawanipur Education Society College (BESC) set the stage for intellectual discourse and diplomatic deliberations as it hosted the Intra Model United Nations (MUN) Conference on September 23rd and 24th, 2023. With two committees in focus, the UNCSW (United Nations Commission on the Status of Women) and AIPPM (All India Political Parties Meet), this two-day event aimed to promote leadership skills, research, public speaking, and problem-solving abilities among students.

The event commenced with an enlightening seminar on human rights, hosted by Dr. Jinal Dariya, a faculty member at the University of London and a passionate advocate for human rights. Dr. Dariya's insights set the tone for the conference, sparking lively discussions and prompting delegates to raise pertinent questions regarding human rights issues.

The UNCSW and AIPPM committees convened in the Society Hall, engaging in discussions from 11:15 AM to 4:15 PM, with a brief one-hour break. The UNCSW committee, co-chaired by Aman Sinha and Sofia Parveen, tackled the issue of sexual violence against women in politically unstable regions, with a focus on indigenous groups. Delegates from various countries passionately presented their stances, shedding light on the different challenges faced by indigenous women and the policies implemented in their respective nations.

In parallel, the AIPPM conference, moderated by Ankit Kumar Singh, delved into the contentious topic of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and its potential to reduce religious conflicts. A general consensus emerged, with 13 members supporting UCC and 5 members opposing it. Representatives from prominent political parties engaged in a spirited debate, exploring the nuances of this complex issue. While both BJP and Congress leaders presented compelling arguments, the session concluded with room for further debate on the implementation of UCC.

Day 2 witnessed a continuation of thought-provoking discussions. In the UNCSW committee, delegates addressed critical issues concerning women's economic empowerment, education, healthcare, and sanitation, with a special emphasis on indigenous groups. Animated debates unfolded, highlighting the challenges and proposed solutions from different countries. A 15-minute Unmoderated Caucus allowed delegates to collaborate on a consensus report.

The AIPPM conference continued with intense questioning, where Congress and BJP representatives engaged in a heated exchange regarding Kashmir and counter-terrorism measures. Despite the moderator's interventions, the session ended with unresolved disputes.
