B.D.M. International, on 27 September had organised Shatranj - the Inter School Chess Tournament, 2023.
The event was inaugurated by CEO S.L.Gupta , Principal and Vice Principal. The tournament was divided under three categories.
The Knight's King was the under -11 category, the Under 14 category was called Heroic Horses and the third category was named as Rook's Revenge- the Under 19 category.
The tournament registered 23 renowned schools from around the city with the total number of participants counting to 181.
The Chief Guest for the tournament was Aronyak Ghosh, the Indian International Master. Ghosh's presence was an honour for the school and his words of wisdom was a source of immense inspiration for the young master minds.
The Chief Arbiter for the tournament was Asit Baran Choudhury, International Arbiter who is celebrated for his contribution in the Chess fraternity. Arbiter Choudhury was all praises for the young minds, and he praised the participants for their grit and enthusiasm.
The tournament was divided into four segments. The participants took part in all the rounds and with the assistance of the Arbiter the runners up and the winners were determined.
The Winning team for the Under 11- Knight's King category was DPS, Rupy Park while the Runner Up team was Lakshmipat Singhania.
The Under 14 - Heroic Horses winning trophy was awarded to the Lakshmipat Singhania team and the runner up trophy was awarded to B.D.M. International. Winner’s trophy of the Rook’s Revenge - Under 19 category- was bagged by South Point School while the runner up trophy was awarded to Aditya Academy Senior Secondary.
The hours-long tournament came to an end with all the participants receiving applause for their glorious participation.
The principal congratulated all the participants for their sportsmanship, who celebrated the spirit of a good game and made Shatranj 2023 a grand success.
