Amity School of Business (ASB), Amity University Uttar Pradesh, has organised the 1st International Conference on “Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Business Development” (ICESBD 2022) in association with College de Paris, France, as knowledge partner, from 02 to 03 November, 2022. The Conference aims to bring the practitioners of Sustainable Business Practices together and benefit the students and participants through a stimulating exchange of ideas.
Advising the students during the Inaugural Session, Chief Guest, Mr. Piyush Prasad, National Business Head, Hero Electric Pvt. Ltd, asserted, “Students must give their 100% to whatever career path they choose for themselves and develop an entrepreneurial mindset so that they can contribute to nation building. They must make decisions, keeping in mind the societal impact and opt for sustainable solutions for resolving problems. Also, reskilling is very important and taking informed business decisions after much deliberation about the impact on the environment, is extremely crucial.” Citing the example of the automobile industry, he further added, “It is very heartening and encouraging to see the steps and initiatives which the Government has taken towards sustainable business practices by promoting electric vehicles, for a sustainable environment. It is a huge welcome step by the government which will be highly beneficial for the environment.
Addressing the gathering during the Inaugural Session, Prof. (Dr) Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, averred, “Today’s youth is highly conscious of the choices that they make, whether professional or personal. They are highly aware of the impact of their decisions and are, therefore, opting for sustainable business practices when it comes to entrepreneurship. At Amity, the focus is on Industry-Academia collaboration so that the students get hands-on experience and exposure to hone their skills and enhance their learning. Amity has the largest number of collaborations with Foreign Universities, and it ensures that the students are provided with the best opportunities to shape their career.”
Highlighting the significance of Sustainable Business Development, Guest of Honor, Dr. Guillaume FINCK, Vice President College de Paris International, France, asserted, “Earlier, students used to choose their first job on the basis of the salary being offered to them by the companies, however, now the scenario has completely changed, and students are choosing jobs based on the social impact. College de Paris is delighted to collaborate with Amity University and discuss the areas of collaboration in the form of Dual Degrees, Student and Faculty Exchange Programmes, and would like to further strengthen this partnership through various other initiatives.”
Welcoming the guests during the Inaugural Session, Dr. Gurinder Singh, Group Vice Chancellor Amity Universities, stated, “At Amity, entrepreneurial skills are developed in the students from an early stage so that they can become the best, socially responsible entrepreneurs. Amity provides an unparalleled platform to its students, where they get diverse opportunities and immense global exposure by opting for Study Abroad Programmes and exchanging knowledge and learning with their international counterparts.”
Delivering the Keynote address by Guest of Honor, Dr. Ivan Zupic, Head of International Partnerships, Institute of Management Studies, Goldsmiths, University of London, UK, “Entrepreneurship is about taking initiatives and decisions which have a positive impact on the society. Social responsibility must be the utmost priority of an entrepreneur and adoption of the best Sustainable Business Practices is a great step in this direction.”
During the two-day conference, various insightful sessions on themes including “Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Business Practices”, “Economy, Environment and Entrepreneurship”, “Enterprise Sustainability: Issues and Challenges” and “Innovation & Entrepreneurship” will be held and Research Papers will be presented on topics such as “Impediments to the Adoption of Sustainable Energy Usage” , “The Benefits of Going Green in Politics: A Study of India's Political Party Brands Eco-Friendly Initiatives for Sustainable Development”, “Entrepreneurial Orientation in Family Business in India”, “Women Entrepreneurs in SMEs and their Impact on Sustainable Development: A Network Analysis”, amongst others.
