Yes

Only medicine

An old saying goes “spare the rod and spoil the child”. The modern belief system discards this notion. But if you look around, today’s children are more unruly, disobedient and disrespectful. I believe that parents should hit their children to help them become disciplined.

Won’t repeat mistakes

Some children are mischievous, some are not. Parents should hit only those who don’t care to abide by their rules, just to bring them on the right track. These children will get a lesson and will hopefully learn to restrain themselves from making the same mistakes.

No

Many other ways

There are ample ways of instilling discipline. Hitting children makes rebels out of them. It also breaks their spirit and in certain cases hampers growth.

Adverse impact

Hitting children might have serious repercussions to the contrary. They may grow up feeling inferior or they might come to believe that violence is an acceptable response to conflict. Time-outs and setting clear rules are recommended by child development experts.

Be patient

Mangoes are born from mango trees. Disciplined parents will be able to rear disciplined children. Parents are the first teachers of children. They have to be patient.

Depression

Beating up children to discipline them will lead to unnecessary agression and depression. They would not be able to understand the reason behind such violence.

Let them explore

Corporal punishment is an illogical and unethical practice. Children can’t learn discipline unless what’s good or bad is explained to them with proper reasoning.
