The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Institute of Indian Technology (IIT) and Microsoft was signed in order to encourage and promote start-ups. Microsoft and IIT Bombay's umbrella organisation, the Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SINE), have developed this relationship.

As part of this partnership, SINE and Microsoft will look into ways to give entrepreneurs at SINE access to Microsoft software and services, as well as resources like GitHub and M365, training on Azure, and mentor networks.

Students at IIT Bombay will get access to Microsoft's top executives as well as Microsoft Valuable Professionals (MVP), Azure Influencers, and startup founders through this alliance.

In addition, the two institutes will collaborate to choose and welcome startups to Founder's Hub. These start-ups will get the chance to participate in the Azure community programme as well as other ongoing Microsoft developer initiatives including the Azure Developer League, Azure Blogathon, Hackathons, Open Hacks, and Imagine Cup.
