CISCE Board Exams 2025: A Comprehensive Revision Plan Strategy for Success

Creating a revision plan for ICSE and ISC 2025 board exams requires a structured approach to ensure comprehensive coverage of all subjects. Since these exams are highly competitive and are known for their rigorous syllabus and high standards, the revision plan should focus on time management, understanding key concepts and regular practice.

The Telegraph Online Edugraph spoke to Miss Sonali Sen, Head of DPS Newtown for a detailed revision plan tailored for ICSE and ISC students to optimize their study approach and ensure they are exam-ready.  

Initial Assessment

Understanding Syllabus- Subject-wise Analysis

Familiarize yourself with the complete ICSE and ISC syllabus and focus on topics with more weightage. Make a study plan by listing down all subjects and their chapters and identify strong and weak areas. Divide your study time accordingly.

Practice Previous Years' Papers/Specimen papers

Solve past question papers to understand the exam pattern, types of questions, and time management, and frequently asked questions. Stick to the textbooks recommended by the CISCE board as they form the basis of the exam questions.

Key Focus: Understanding the syllabus, setting goals for weak areas, and familiarizing yourself with exam patterns.

Detailed Revision Plan

General Guidelines

• Prioritize subjects based on difficulty level and weightage
• Write concise notes for each subject, highlighting key points, formulas and dates. These will be useful for quick revisions
• Follow a 4-hour daily study plan, balancing between subjects and aim to complete one subject in detail each week.
• Take Regular Breaks- Follow the 50-10 rule: study for 50 minutes and then take a 10-minute break. This helps maintain focus and prevents burnout

ICSE 2025: Focus on subjects with heavy theory content like English, History, Geography and Civics. 

ISC 2025: Revise English, Accountancy and Business Studies (if applicable).

Intensive Revision Plan

1. Increase study hours (5-6 hours per day), avoid last-minute cramming.
2. Focus on conceptual subjects like Science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology). Devote time to practice numericals (Mathematics) and practical applications. 
3. Practice solving sample papers under exam conditions for a deeper understanding of time management. 
4. Focus on memorizing important definitions, formulas, and key dates. Make a practice of regularly reviewing your notes.
5. Complete atleast one full-length mock test every alternative day
6. Work on speed and accuracy
7. Refer Pupils Performance Analysis to understand the answering pattern of board questions. It will also help you to learn common misconceptions

Subject-Specific Tips for ICSE and ISC Revision 2025

English: Practice writing letters, applications, essays, precis and comprehension questions. Pay Attention to Grammar and Presentation-  In language and descriptive answers, write grammatically correct and neatly structured responses. Use headings, bullet points and underline key points for clarity. Revise the prescribed literature (plays, poems and stories)

Mathematics 

ICSE: Practice problems regularly focusing on algebra, geometry and trigonometry. Allot time for each section based on your performance.

ISC: Work on complex problems like matrices, vectors and calculus. Regular practice of past sample papers is key. 

Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology)

ICSE: Practice experiments and formulas in physics and chemistry. Draw diagrams wherever necessary. 

ISC: Emphasize on derivations, theory, questions and practicals.

History & Civics/Political Science, Geography

ICSE: Focus on dates, events and historical timeliness. Practice essay-type questions. Also, for Geography go through the topography part and practice map-pointing.

ISC: Focus on in-depth knowledge of historical events, political theories, and the constitution.

Final Revision

• Make a checklist of important topics to review daily
• Practice relaxation techniques, as stress can affect exam performance
• Get enough sleep, eat nutritious food, and exercise regularly. Stay calm and confident, as a positive mindset is key to performing well
