In an effort to promote equality and inclusion, FMCG giant P&G India pledged on Wednesday to offer opportunities for digital upskilling to 5 lakh women from underprivileged communities over the next three years. Additionally, P&G India, according to its MD & CEO L Vaidyanathan, will collaborate with over 50 educational institutions nationwide, including post-graduate universities and undergraduate colleges, as part of its initiative ShareThePride.

P&G will seek to make students, professors, and staff aware of the LGBTQ+ population in order to create safe environments and visible allies for them. At P&G India's annual #WeSeeEqual Summit, Vaidyanathan said, "The company will also work with institutions to evolve the ecosystem to incorporate positive creators of an inclusive space."

In addition, P&G, which owns brands like Ariel, Whisper, Tide, and Head & Shoulders, declared a policy to support its employees' and their spouses' infertility treatment.

According to him, this is a part of P&G's pledge to spend Rs 500 crore between 2021 and 2025. One year before the pledge deadline of 2024, "P&G India achieved 50% representation of female directors behind the camera for the company's brand advertisements," he stated. With a goal of reaching 2.5 crore girls by 2024, P&G India's Whisper Menstrual Health & cleanliness Programme has already educated over 2 crore girls about puberty and cleanliness over the last two years.

He stated, "The company will renew its commitment to impact 2.5 crore girls over the next three years and will continue to focus on raising awareness about the need for period education and preventing girls from missing and dropping out of school."

Similar to this, it has collaborated with over 100 institutions as part of the "P&G Shiksha Betiyan Scholarship Programme," which was introduced last year, to offer financial aid and mentoring opportunities to girls who want to pursue higher education in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). "This was done across technical institutes, undergraduate colleges, and post-graduate universities," he continued.
