The National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Andhra Pradesh has started the induction programme for its fresh batch of BTech students to inculcate professional discipline and ethics in the engineers-to-be before their classes commence on December 27.
The induction programme, organised virtually in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, started on December 15 and will conclude on December 24. The classes will also be held in online mode.
The fresh batch for the academic year 2021-2022 will follow a revised curriculum, as per the latest National Educational Policy, authorities from the institution said.
“Students should plan for a creative learning pathway towards their future from the initial stage itself. They are encouraged to study interdisciplinary courses and carry out innovative projects. The Institute provides a wonderful platform for the students to practice extra-curricular and co-curricular activities during their time in the campus,” said C.S.P. Rao, director, NIT Andhra Pradesh.
The induction programme is also aimed at helping students bond with each other and their teachers. It will also familiarise the students with the rules, regulations, and culture of the institution.
“The students should not only aim for placements but also the opportunity to contribute to nation building. They should explore the opportunities with entrepreneurship and start-ups. The students are advised to utilise the campus facilities and improve communication skills”, added Rao.
Sudhir Kumar Mishra, scientist and former director general of BrahMos, DRDO, New Delhi, was the chief guest on the inaugural day of the induction programme.
“I am delighted to participate in the event. I congratulate all the students who secured a seat in this reputed institution and I wish them an inspiring and joyful life at NIT Andhra Pradesh,” said Mishra.
