Good news for candidates looking for Government jobs. The Department of posts has come out with a notification to recruit meritorious sports persons in the department for various positions. The application process will start from November 10 and will continue till December 9. Once the application process begins, candidates will have to visit the official website of India Post department at  dopsportsrecruitment.cept.gov.in and submit their application.  

Details of the vacancy

A total of 1899 candidates will be recruited to various positions including Postal Assistant, Sorting Assistant, Postman, Mail Guard and Multi Tasking Staff.

Here’s the post-wise vacancy details 

Postal Assistant - 598 candidates would be recruited for this position. 

Sorting Assistant - 143 candidates would be recruited for this position.

Postman - 585 candidates would be recruited for this position 

Mail Guard - 3 candidates would be recruited for this position

Multi-tasking staff - 570 candidates would be recruited for this position

Educational Qualifications

Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant - Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University and knowledge of working on computer. 

Postman/Mail Guard - Candidates must have passed 12th standard from a recognized Board and should have passed the local language of the concerned Postal Circle or Division as one of the subjects in 10th standard or above. Also, the candidate should have knowledge of working on a computer. 

Also a valid license to drive two-wheeler or Light Motor Vehicle (For the post of Postman only). Persons with Benchmark Disability are exempted from the possession of license.  

For Multi-Tasking staff - Candidates should have passed 10th standard from a recognized Board

Application Fees 

Candidates will have to pay an application fee of Rs 100. However, women candidates, transgender candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) are exempted from payment of fee. 

How to apply? 

Candidates will have to their application only in online mode at dopsportsrecruitment.cept.gov.in by giving order of preference for both Cadres (i.e. Postal Assistant, Sorting Assistant, Postman, Mail Guard and Multi Tasking Staff) as well as Postal Circles where the want to work.
