Sir Richard J Roberts, a Nobel Laureate advised the students to expand and work on their basic research on scientific development and other areas related to science for the betterment of humankind. He said that in-depth research knowledge will make students better industrialists and self-reliant.

The Nobel Laureate on Monday addressed the students at a three-day international conference “Frontiers in Nutrition, Medical Genomics and Drug Discovery (INBIX-22)” conducted at the Vignan's University.

Dr. Richard J. Roberts said that students should be encouraged and trained with doing the basic research right from the beginning. He gave his own example saying that his academic setup of basic research allowed him to start the New England Labs in Boston, USA which turned on to be a billion-dollar company.  He further added that drug discovery is a vital part of the field of medical genomics and students can easily connect with research institutions as well as read more articles.

Former director of IISc and Padma Bhushan Awardee, Professor G. Padmanabhan said meetings make the students skilled and enhance their leadership quality. He stated that if students can acquire the right set of skills then they will be able to find a lot of opportunities in the corporate world.

Vignan University Chairman Dr. Lavu Rathaiah, Vice Chairman Lavu Sri Krishnadevarayulu, Vice Chancellor Prof P. Nagabhushan were the attendees of the programme.
