The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has invited applications from students and faculty for a five-day online course on Practical Numerical Methods using Python.
The online course will cover basic elements of python programming along with numerical algorithms. It also covers the Python implementation of these algorithms.
According to IIT Kanpur, the course will not be purely theoretical since a major portion of it has been designed to encourage students to solve problems. Any difficulties in solving exercises will be addressed through real-time interactions with the institute’s teaching assistants. Basic elements of Python programming and numerical algorithms, including its implementation, will also be covered.
The course will be conducted by Mahendra Kumar Verma, professor at Department of Physics at IIT Kanpur.
The contents of the course will the divided into two sections:
The website further mentions that students will also get a chance to implement and enhance their understanding of the course by practicing a variety of problems and exercises on all the topics.
The online course on python will be conducted from November 19 to 25, 2021. It is a paid course that costs Rs 2,950 for non-IIT Kanpur students and Rs 2,500 for IIT Kanpur students. The registration fee for IIT Kanpur faculty members is Rs 5,000. Non-IIT Kanpur faculty will have to pay Rs 5,900 as the application fee.
