The Common University Entrance Test-PG (CUET PG) will replace the current postgraduate (PG) entrance test for the upcoming DU admissions cycle, according to the Academic Council of Delhi University (DU).

Only half of the available seats will be filled using this strategy; the other half will continue to be filled on the basis of merit for DU students. The council made this decision at its meeting today, which also discussed raising the fee for submitting a Ph.D. thesis and adding CUET-PG to the admissions cycle as well as the syllabuses for several undergraduate courses for the second semester.

To make recommendations for PG admissions in 2023–2024, a 10-person committee was established. For candidates who have earned their bachelor's degree from DU based on their merit, 50% of admissions are made directly under the existing DU PG admissions method.

According to a statement from the committee, "Admission to all postgraduate courses would be carried out through a single-window process, where CUET-PG will be conducted by the National Testing Agency as it is done for other central institutions for all categories of students."

Due to the fact that the CUET will be held independently for each programme and the merit list will be created in accordance with the requirements, the faculties will now be required to create new, particular qualifying standards based on their respective departments and subjects.

"The following priorities will be used to create the Merit List: The initial 50% of seats will be filled by the former group of applicants who sought admission through the Postgraduate Entrance Test, which will also include those who pass this Common University Entrance Test based on their eligibility to take the test in this group ", as advised by the committee.
