The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has directed all affiliated schools to ensure the full registration of students in classes 9 and 11 by October 16, 2024. This step is part of the Board’s effort to streamline student registration ahead of the 2025 board examinations.

The CBSE emphasised that any lapses in registration during the submission of the List of Candidates (LOC) for next year will not be entertained. In the past, several schools reported missed registrations due to reasons such as illness, clerical errors, or technical glitches. The Board made it clear that such oversights will no longer be acceptable.

Such mistakes are not expected from the schools and will be viewed seriously. Hence, during registration, schools are directed to register all their students,” stated the official CBSE notice.

In addition, CBSE reminded schools of the mandatory 75% attendance requirement for students appearing in the 2025 board exams. Schools must maintain accurate and updated attendance records, as students with attendance below the threshold will not be eligible to sit for the exams. The Board allows a 25% relaxation in attendance for students with medical emergencies, participation in national or international events, or other significant reasons, provided the necessary documentation is submitted.

The notice urged schools to regularly monitor attendance and keep records readily available for inspection. CBSE may conduct surprise inspections, and any school found with incomplete or falsified attendance records may face strict penalties, including disaffiliation. Furthermore, no changes to attendance records will be permitted once schools submit attendance shortage cases to the Board.
