Come February and the city takes on a festival feel, and this year is no different. The reason? The 46th Calcutta International Book Fair. One would think that the book fair would only attract book lovers, but the fact is that people from far and wide, irrespective of their interests, wait all year round for this fair. And like the last three years, this year too, EIILM, one of Kolkata’s best management institutes, is a part of the celebrations. The EIILM-KOLKATA stall at the book fair is primarily an initiative designed to give exposure and experience to students, giving them an opportunity to play an active role in an on ground event. Various student-led activities such as quizzes, music, drama, mocktail making, role-play, and others make up the thirteen days of the book fair.

This year, however, there is an added cause for celebration at the EIILM-KOLKATA stall at the 46th Calcutta International Book Fair. And that is the book launch of 'Vedic Economy' by Prof. Rama Prosad Banerjee, Professor of Management and Chairman & Director of EIILM-KOLKATA on Friday, February 3. The launch, that will take place at the SBI Main Auditorium, will feature Actor Abir Chatterjee; Thailand’s Pathumthani University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof (Dr) Nithima Yuenyong; and Netaji Subhash Open University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof (Dr) Ranjan Chakrabarti as special invitees.

This year, the EIILM-KOLKATA Kolkata Stall at the Calcutta Book Fair has been set up with 3 main objectives. The first of these is the publication of the book 'Vedic Economy', followed by promotion of the concept of a Borderless Asia, and thirdly, to provide EIILM-KOLKATA students with opportunities to engage in various management roles.

Needless to say, the students have been successfully managing the stall from the beginning. How has their experience been? According to Bushra Hussain, a sixth semester student of BBA at EIILM-KOLKATA, “This initiative has given students a new direction. Experiences like talking to different people coming to the book fair, participating in various games, answering a range of questions will help us in building a career in the future.” Two more students of Media Science, Shrabani Roy and Swagata Chowdhury, also concurred with Bushra. Not only that, the stall is also providing students with excellent opportunities to interact with and interview famous writers, filmmakers, actors who are visiting the book fair, with an aim to help them with their future career paths.
