Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences awards degrees to 302 students

The third convocation of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) Deemed to be University was held on Saturday, during which 302 students were awarded degrees for completing their Masters and PhD programmes.

Attending the function, Odisha governor Raghubar Das emphasised the significant role of the tribal students in India’s growth and development.

Chhattisgarh governor Biswabhusan Harichandan also graced the function as the guest of eminence during which honorary DLitt degrees were conferred upon him along with Swami Chidanand Saraswati, president and spiritual head of Parmarth Niketan Ashram, Rishikesh; and Sopnendu Mohanty, chief FinTech officer, Monetary Authority of Singapore and chairman of the Board of Elevandi, Singapore.

All the dignitaries lauded the role of KIIT and KISS founder Achyuta Samanta, towards tribal empowerment. “It was also a matter of pride for the tribal communities that 75 years after Independence, India has a Tribal leader in Droupadi Murmu as the President of the country,” Harichandan said.
