Raman Research Institute’s Open Day Unveils the Marvels of Science on National Science Day

The Raman Research Institute welcomed enthusiasts and knowledge seekers alike to a grand celebration of science on the prestigious occasion of National Science Day. With over 3,000 eager minds in attendance, the air was buzzing with excitement as the Institute revealed a captivating array of over 40 science experiments.

From the intricate realms of astronomy to the mesmerising properties of liquid crystals and from the pulsating world of electronics to the robust domains of mechanical engineering, visitors were treated to a kaleidoscope of scientific wonders. Each experiment meticulously crafted to elucidate fundamental concepts, leaving attendees spellbound and enlightened.

But the spectacle did not end there. As the curious delved deeper into the Institute's offerings, they were greeted by the dazzling RRI in Space exhibit. Here, the Institute's stellar contributions to space sciences took centre stage, showcasing its pivotal role in major space missions in collaboration with ISRO.

Among the stars of the show were the recently launched X-ray Polarimeter Satellite (XPoSat), the groundbreaking Astrosat, and the ambitious PRATUSH radio telescope project. Set to explore the mysteries of the universe from the far side of the moon, PRATUSH promises to unravel the secrets of cosmic origins with unparalleled precision.

As visitors marvelled at the wonders of the universe, they also had the opportunity to delve into the rich legacy of Professor CV Raman at the Raman Museum. A treasure trove of precious stones, crystals and rocks collected by the Institute's visionary founder, it offered a glimpse into the extraordinary mind behind the institution.

Meanwhile, the Raman Archival Gallery provided a visual journey through the life and scientific contributions of Professor Raman, alongside a celebration of the Institute's 75 years of relentless pursuit of scientific excellence.

And amidst the bustling crowds, young minds took centre stage in an exhilarating elocution contest, showcasing their passion for science and innovation.
