July 1, 2024, marked a significant milestone for Xavier Business School (XBS) at St Xavier’s University, Kolkata (SXUK), as it welcomed its 7th batch of MBA students for the 2024-26 session.
The inaugural ceremony, held in the Father Albert Stuart Hall, was graced by Avik Kumar Roy, Managing Director and CEO of Exide Industries Ltd, as the Chief Guest. The entire XBS community gathered to celebrate this momentous occasion.
Rev Fr Dr Felix Raj, SJ, Vice Chancellor of SXUK, delivered an inspiring Inaugural address. He warmly welcomed the freshers, emphasising that each student is a valuable asset to the university. Father Raj highlighted SXUK's commitment to fostering inter-religious celebration and inter-community dialogue, core elements of its identity.
He shared three compelling cases to illustrate the university's values:

Following this, Avik Kumar Roy delivered a motivational address. He emphasised the importance of lifelong learning, self-discovery, and leveraging the power of education in India. He underlined the significance of case-based learning in management education, encouraging students to tackle real-life problems and develop their critical thinking skills. He also highlighted the essential role of effective communication in twenty-first century business and concluded with a call for students to seek happiness and peace as they pursue personal and professional growth.
Dr Sitangshu Khatua, Dean of XBS, provided a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries and audience. He articulated a vision of continuous improvement and excellence for XBS, recognising the essential contributions of faculty, staff, and alumni in this journey.
The event was skillfully emceed by Dr Ruchita Burman, Assistant Professor at XBS, ensuring a smooth and engaging programme.
